Face the murti east or north-east in a clean, quiet corner of your home mandir, raised a little above the floor.
Pick a height that suits your altar — a 4–6 inch murti sits beautifully on most home mandirs, while taller pieces anchor a dedicated pooja room.
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Keep away from water and harsh polish — the finish keeps its lustre for years with a light touch.
Ganesh Chaturthi welcomes Ganesha into the home for the festival, installed on the fourth day of Bhadrapada and worshipped for a day and a half up to ten days before visarjan. It is Ganesha's own festival, so the gift is almost always a Ganesha murti, and the one occasion where the chowki or singhasan he is installed on matters as much as the idol.
Because the murti is installed and worshipped rather than only displayed, a piece with a stable base suits, and a brass Ganesha can receive the abhishek of the puja where a plated one cannot. A pooja set, a diya or modak-themed decor complete the setup.
Traditionally the festival Ganesha is a clay murti immersed at the end; a permanent brass or metal Ganesha is a keep-forever companion to that rather than a replacement for it. For volume, the bulk order enquiry page.
