About the product

A decorated elephant with its trunk raised is one of India's oldest signs of welcome. Royal elephants led every festive procession, and many families still keep one near the front door to greet guests and good fortune. This meenakari elephant wears a gold saddle cloth set with pearl beads and kundan stones, over a deep blue body with red and white tusks and beaded anklets.

Which size to choose

  • 3 inch: 4.25 inches long and 3.5 inches tall, a fine size for an office desk, a study table or a return gift
  • 4 inch: 5 inches long and 4.75 inches tall, made for a bookshelf or a pooja room ledge
  • 7 inch: 9 inches long and 7.5 inches tall, for a side table or the entrance console
  • 11 inch: 11.5 inches long and 11.75 inches tall, a statement piece for the living room or a foyer

It is made in resin and painted in meenakari colours, so even the larger sizes are easy to lift.

What you get

  • 1 meenakari elephant statue, in the size you choose

A gift for Dhanteras, griha pravesh and weddings

Elephants are traditionally kept in pairs at the entrance, so two make a generous gift for a griha pravesh or a newly married couple's first home. It is just as welcome on a Dhanteras or Diwali visit. See our meenakari decor, more wedding gifts, and the meenakari Ambari elephant with its royal howdah.

Meenakari Elephant, in your world

One-minute glimpses from real homes — unboxings, hand-painted detail and the making.

मीनाकारी · The art itself

Painted by hand, in the colours of Rajasthan

Meenakari is Rajasthan's art of colour — the old Jaipur way of dressing an idol in jewel-bright shades, laid on entirely by hand. Ours is painted stroke by stroke in cobalt and emerald, then set, pearl by pearl, with tiny coloured beads that catch the light.

It is slow, quiet work — the kind that has been done in Jaipur's lanes for generations.

Days of quiet work in a single piece

A piece like this is never hurried. A single karigar sits with it for days — painting, setting, checking — moving only as fast as a steady hand will allow. That patience is the craft, and you can read it in the finish.

You cannot hurry a thing made this way.

✦ Good to know

Questions, answered

Yes — every piece is hand-painted in Jaipur in the traditional Meenakari way, stroke by stroke in cobalt and emerald, then set with tiny coloured pearls placed one by one. No two are ever exactly alike.

Dust it with a dry, soft cloth — never water. Kept dry and out of direct sun, the colours hold their brightness for a lifetime.

Each piece is painted and set by a single karigar over several days, so we make yours after you order.

Each pearl is set by hand and sealed, so it stays put with normal handling. Just keep it away from water and harsh cleaning.

Each piece is wrapped in protective layers and a rigid box, insured pan-India, and we ship worldwide with tracked courier. If it arrives damaged, we remake or replace it.
